Chiropractic Care
What Techniques do we use?
Once we have identified the problems, we can decide on the appropriate treatment. At Cobham Chiropractic, we use a combination of adjusting styles according to the needs of the patient.
Zone Technique
At Cobham Chiropractic, Chiropractor Toby Colliver primarily practises the highly specialised Zone Technique to restore balance and facilitate healing in all the systems of the body. He is one of only a handful practitioners certified in the UK. We have witnessed fantastic results in people who had otherwise given up hope!
Diversified Technique
When stuck and stiff spinal bones are identified, a specific manual thrust is used to restore localised function. The direction, speed, depth and angle that are used is the result of years of experience, practice and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics.
The energy delivered during the thrust may produce a slight “popping” sound from the shifting of gas and fluids in the joint. This sound may be surprising, but is not harmful and is not a necessary part of the adjustment.
Thompson Drop
Dr Colliver is fully certified in Thompson technique. This is a specialised chiropractic technique system which uses mechanical parts of our treatment tables (‘Drop pieces’) to help us deliver accurate and comfortable adjustments. It takes into account neurological patterns which are affecting the patient’s structure and corrects them by facilitating rather than forcing. This way we can directly influence the nerves to encourage change.
Activator
An adjusting tool called an ‘Activator’ may also be used. This is a very gentle technique which can even be used safely with babies or the elderly.
SOT
Some elements of sacro-occipital technique (SOT) are often incorporated. External wedges or ‘blocks’ are used to reposition the pelvis, allowing improved flow of cerebro-spinal fluid (which bathes and nourishes your nervous system) while you lie.
Get Started Today
While improving spinal biomechanics can reduce nervous system interferences, virtually all joints of the body can be adjusted to help restore proper range of motion. We believe your body is one whole dynamic entity, and not to be divided into individual symptomatic segments like in a text book. We will therefore always address everything that could be inhibiting its full potential.
